Tina Adams-Mason

Tina Adams-Mason, founder and owner of About Face Pros, discusses Diversity and Natural Glamour with Camille Davis at www.joiedevisual.com.

Tina Adams-Mason is both an artist and a trailblazer.

She earned her reputation in the beauty world by becoming one of the few makeup artists who enthusiastically and consistently accommodated the beauty needs of clients of all complexions before “inclusivity” became the mantra of the beauty industry.

“What I became known for is creating ‘custom’ blends of foundation and powder for clients who needed it,” she explains.

Until recently, women with olive, yellow, golden brown, cinnamon and deep brown complexions often relied upon brands specifically created for skin tones with rich pigmentation because most mainstream lines did not offer products for their needs.

Two brands that proved exceptions were Prescriptives and Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and Tina was a successful artist for both organizations.

“Prescriptives was the only line for a while that allowed for customization of product, and as I created specific colors for my clientele, I kept a record of how each color was created. It was similar to keeping special recipe cards, except each recipe was made for the needs of an individual.”

She adds, “What I loved about Bobbi Brown Cosmetics was the yellow pigment in the powders, concealers, and foundations, which was universally flattering, and the brown base of the lipsticks also looked great on a variety of skin tones.”

Tina Adams-Mason was so successful as a Bobbi Brown artist that she made the Neiman Marcus store where she hosted her clientele one of the top-performing stores for the Bobbi Brown brand.

Under her leadership, the Bobbi Brown makeup counter within the Dallas Neiman Marcus Prestonwood store expanded from a single makeup counter into an installation, which is akin to having a small boutique within the store.

When she added the Marc Jacobs’ line to her professional repertoire, Tina had a similar impact on that brand.

She states, “The bright color palettes, particularly for lips, are what made the brand attractive to me.”

Her mastery of color caused the Marc Jacobs boutique within Neiman Marcus to earn one of the highest ratings in the nation.

Today, Tina is a nationally renowned makeup artist whose work graces the canvases of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, the cast of the The Real Housewives of Dallas television show, and the faces of numerous models and dignitaries. She has even “prepped” a former U.S. president for an appearance on C-Span.

Tina Adams-Mason is the founder and owner of About Face Pros, a luxury mobile beauty service that provides makeup and hair services for clients at their venue of choice.

One of the many perks of the service is that when a client has both makeup and hair needs, Tina curates a team of individuals who are masters at the particular skills needed for the appointment.

“I work with a team, and I choose which team members are the right fit for the job.”

For each appointment, her goals remain the same. She wants her clients to look and feel like the best version of themselves, not anyone else.

“I can do all of the trends, the false lashes, and contouring if that is what the client wants, but I prefer to work with the beauty of a client’s natural canvas to achieve a sense of glamour that is authentically her own.”
